FAA will have to find a mechanism or revise its system to issue radio and instrument repairman certificates to individuals employed by an airframe-rated repair station. Or, it must develop a technician licensing system that supports its repair station proposal. For those who have been asking for an avionics license, this sounds like the holy grail. But, be careful what you ask for. The European B-2 license is a type-rated type license, which

is reasonably applicable to airline maintenance but is disastrous in general aviation. The FAA approach of a task-based license is better to support general aviation, but it fails in the airline environment. We know from Sir Isaac Newton’s laws of motion that for every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction. Be careful what you ask. For every improvement in the regulation, for every efficiency improvement in an industry that is as diverse as ours, there are businesses that will be disenfranchised – and someone must pay. 

RTCA DO-160F (D3)ABBRXWXXXSZBABZTB(A3C3X)XXAX TSO/ETSO approved The Altitude Preselect System APS4A is intended to be used as an interface between primary flight displays (Garmin G600, Aspen 1000) with alerter function or Air Data Displays (Thommen AD30 and AD32 family) and a variety of existing autopilot systems to supply altitude preselect and hold-function. The system is mainly designed for retrofit installation and consists of a small lightweight interface box and an optional altitude preselect indicator/switch.
