GE AVIATION is launching a free business and general aviation customer service and support app called Beacon. According to the company, the new app will allow operators of GE’s business and commercial engines to have one-touch access to support services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, no matter where they travel. “Our customers are on the go, so GE’s customer service and support is becoming more mobile with the Beacon app,” said BRAD MOTTIER, vice president and general manager of GE Aviation’s business and general aviation organization. “Beacon gives our customers quick access to GE’s business jet operations center and field support engineers to help them solve any problem anywhere in the world.” Customers will be able to download the Beacon app on their iPhones or iPads from the App Store. Android and Blackberry users can access the app on the Web at gebeacon.com. After initially entering aircraft information, they can activate the Beacon for customer service and support needs, such as service calls, sales inquiries or aircraft-on-ground issues. The activation sends a signal to the GE aviation business jet operations center that will quickly respond to the request. Additionally, the app includes a built-in GPS locator that can work with the GE contact directory and provide customers with contact information for the nearest GE representative who can call for assistance. Airplane shipments increased 4.2 percent compared to 2011, while the accompanying value of the airplane deliveries increased 1.4 percent. “What we heard from our customers recently at AOPA’s summit and NBAA’s convention indicate that purchase decisions continue to be delayed due to fiscal uncertainty in our North American and European markets,” said GAMA’s president and CEO, PETE BUNCE. “Now that the U.S. election is behind us, we hope that legislators quickly act on the nation’s budget crisis so that individuals and businesses can begin to chart their own long-range fiscal paths.” Piston engine powered airplane shipments grew 3.5 percent to 597 for the first nine months of 2012 compared to last year. Turboprop airplanes saw the strongest growth with 368 units compared to 333 in 2011, which is a 10.5 percent increase. There was one more business jet delivered yearto-date in 2012 compared to the 2011 shipments.
