Advantage Avionics Expands Hobby Into Big Business

hen Mark Krueger checks out the warbirds or peruses the homebuilts at EAA’s AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis., he’s simply another aviation enthusiast soaking in the summertime show. The annual father-son trip with his 14-year-old son, Kyle, offers Krueger a chance to enjoy airplanes without having to work on them. “It gets me back to the joy of aviation without the everyday shop duties that usually go with it for me,” said Krueger, who owns and flies a Piper Cherokee Six. Krueger, who started out in electronics installing car stereos, found a passion for aviation when he received a PCbased flight simulator for Christmas one year. “I got hooked on flying the simulator and thought it would be fun to use the little coupon in the back for a $35 flight at my local airport,” said Krueger, founder and owner of Advantage Avionics. “It was the most expensive $35 I have

ever spent. I immediately signed up for flight lessons and became a private pilot. I enjoyed it so much, I decided to get out of car stereo installations and work on aircraft avionics. It led me to where I am today.” Starting the Company Located on Chino Airport, a general aviation reliever airport in Southern California, Advantage Avionics sells, installs and services avionics, instruments and entertainment systems for experimentals, warbirds, small general aviation aircraft and business jets. The company is an authorized dealer for most major brands of general aviation avionics. Advantage Avionics also offers complete, spinner-to-tail wiring services for experimental aircraft and builds custom, plug-and-play panels with manufacturing, powder coating and laser engraving all completed in-house. “Advantage Avionics was founded when I started
