Garmin G1000 avionics systems supported by Jeppesen data feature large-format, high-resolution displays for enhanced situational awareness in the cockpit for business and general aviation operators. Jeppesen and Garmin customers are now able to choose between bundle options that include Jeppesen NavData, Jeppesen eCharts (JeppView for multifunction display) and/or Garmin FliteCharts. The new agreement supports four data bundle options and provides a single aircraft pricing structure. Each bundle option includes Garmin’s popular SafeTaxi, obstacle, terrain and airport directory services.

• In other news... Jeppesen now offers computerbased training for the popular Garmin GPSMAP 696 avionics platform. The Jeppesen eLearning program offers scenario-based, guided simulation training, covering all GPSMAP 696 operational aspects for both initial and recurrent training participants. Offered for Windows-based desktop computers, the Jeppesen GPSMAP 696 eLearning program allows pilots to learn at their own pace and practice procedures in a comfortable environment. Responding to strong customer demand, the Jeppesen training program incorporates a visual, hands-on approach that enables quick learning of procedures, facilitated by extensive animated sequences with supporting narration. vider of integrated avionics and safety systems for general aviation aircraft, announced it is actively working with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the FAA on the airborne traffic situational awareness with alerts program for automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast. The FAA-funded TSAA program includes the prototyping and demonstration of functional hardware, along with the drafting of the industry standards for conflict detection and alerting to be adopted by ADS-B vendors. “ADS-B is integral to the NextGen air transportation system, and we are pleased to be a part of the development process for this important safety enhancement,” said DAN SCHWINN, Avidyne’s president and CEO. “Through the TSAA program, we are defining the algorithms for conflict detection, and also for reducing false alerts and nuisance alerts in high-traffic airport and approach environments for aircraft using ADS-B.” Initial TSAA research, application development and simulations were completed in 2011, and flight tests and refinements are being accomplished throughout 2012. New MOPS will be defined in the second half of 2013, and the new technical standard order is expected to be published and available for all manufacturers soon after.
