Civil Aviation Safety Authority

The Australian government’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority
has advised that the following documents are available:
• Advisory Circular – AC 66-2(9): List of Aircraft Type
Ratings for CASR Part 66 Licenses has been published
and includes shading where updates have been made.
• Advisory Circular – AC 21-36(1) – Global Navigation
Satellite System Equipment: Airworthiness Guidelines
has been published.
• A Point of Clarification to NFRM 1105AS – CNS/ATM
Plan for this decade-aircraft avionics equipage mandates for satellite-based IFR navigation, Mode S/ADSB transponders and forward fitment of TCAS II Version
7.1 has been published.
CASA also has advised that the consultation draft for amendments to CAO 104.0 – Certificates of Approval and Direction
– warbird maintenance by certificate of approval holders and
their employees has been redrafted and published due to industry
feedback. All comments on this consultation draft are to be forwarded to the project leader by close of business on March 1.

Australian Airworthiness Directives
The following series of questions and answers regarding
airworthiness directives is found online at the Civil Aviation
Safety Authority frequently asked questions website.

QUESTION:

What happens when a state of design AD is published
that supersedes an existing CASA AD?

ANSWER:

In this instance, CASA will cancel the Australian AD
as close as possible to the effective date of the state of
design AD. If the state of design AD becomes effective
before CASA cancels the Australian AD, the state of
design AD has precedence.

QUESTION:

If my aircraft model is already on the Australian
register on Oct. 1, 2009, with what state of design
ADs must I comply?

ANSWER:

You must comply with applicable state of design ADs
issued on or after Oct. 1, 2009.

You must comply with all applicable state of design
ADs issued before and after Oct. 1, 2009.

ANSWER:

Yes. Since Oct. 1, 2009, CASA added the relevant
state of design ADs to the end of the existing AD
