company a few years later, I told my
manager I could take on the buying
responsibilities, as well. I put my
head down, learned a lot and made
it my own. I’ve been managing it for
two years, and I’m thankful for the
opportunity Duncan gave me.

What’s your formal
title today?
I am the avionics acquisitions
manager. When I was on the repair
side, I worked with individuals with
more than 20 years at Duncan, and
I learned from the best. The biggest
part of my job is building relationships with vendors for buying and
selling. I have so much expertise
around me. I’m not afraid to ask
questions, so I rely on others to
help me.

What is the corporate
culture at Duncan
Aviation?
Duncan Aviation is a great place to
work. When my dad was sick, never
once did I feel that I was afraid to
not come to work so I could be at
the hospital. This is home to me,
and I grew up here. I was barely 4
years old when my dad started here.
It’s a family atmosphere and very
flexible. We have softball tournaments, chili cook-offs and all sorts
of events throughout the year. My

dad and the paint shop were instrumental in keeping the softball tournament going for several years, and
now it’s named after him.

It sounds like you were
very close to your father.
I have a lot of respect for my
dad. It was a godsend that I came
to Duncan and got to see him in
action. He was so funny, a really likable person. I’m thankful I had that
time with him. When I was a parts
runner, I would have lunch with him
most days.

What do you like best
about your job?
It’s challenging because
I’m not technical. I’ve never
been hands-on, so I’ll never
know that side of it. When it
comes to knowing what we
need to stock, I can figure
that out. I enjoy that side
of it, and I get to work with
four talented individuals on
the buying team. Everyone
looks at it from a different
standpoint. This job is very
rewarding and fast-paced.

What do you do when
you’re not working?
I love to spend time with my husband, Darrick. I met him at Duncan.
He’s a master technician for the avionics navigation bench. I’m the mother
of two and one on the way. Mason is
11 and into sports. He’s the first one
on the dance floor and the last one
off. Our 4-year old daughter is Morgan.
She’s very artistic and loves a challenge. Our new baby is coming in May.
I’ll have some maternity leave, but also
work from home for a while. I plan on
staying with Duncan at least 25 years
so I can get my silver Duncan wings.
I teach Sunday school, and I’m an
active Altar Guild member at our
church. We like to hike, and I take two
full weeks in the summer to hit a different swimming pool every day.
My husband is a very respectful individual, a great husband and great father.

What do you see in your
future at Duncan?
At my 10-year anniversary, I made a
speech. I said that I’ve lived, laughed
and loved my first 10 years at Duncan,
and I’m looking forward to many
more. We have so many friendships
and relationships from work. Duncan
