T
ell a friend you’re traveling to Las Vegas for a trade show and it’s a safe bet you’ll get
one of two reactions: The first is a knowing smile, perhaps along with an admonition to
“be careful.” The other is envy; they know they’re going to miss out on something if
they don’t go with you. If you didn’t attend the 56th
annual Aircraft Electronics Association’s International
Convention & Trade Show, which took place March 2528 in what’s often known as the “Entertainment Capital
of the World,” you’re in that latter category, and you
definitely missed out.
What did you miss? Imagine more than 1,500
avionics professionals from all over the world getting
together to compare notes on the latest products and
services, receive training on topics ranging from safety
management systems to vintage aircraft wiring, and be
entertained by the first and only man to fly around the
world, nonstop and unrefueled. Oh and there also were
some Elvis impersonators, as well.
Or an exhibit hall crammed with the latest in
communications, navigation, surveillance and cabin
entertainment equipment, along with the newest tools
and services designed to help make installing all this gear as seamless, uniform
