of its proposed changes in the NPRM. I believe this was
a great example of mutual communication that was taken
seriously and resulted in a positive outcome for all.
I also can reflect back on the days when snail mail
and the telephone were the only options for the AEA to
communicate with the membership. I remember eagerly
anticipating when the mailman might bring the latest
copy of Avionics News or an updated AEA equipment
exchange list. Then along came the fax machine, which
was much faster than snail mail. But we still had to use
the typewriter to generate our forms or documents, and
not everybody owned a fax machine. Jump ahead 25
years and look how much things have changed. We are
living in a world where communications technology is
in a constant state of evolution and advancement. I am
certain that no matter where technology takes the future
of communication, the AEA will utilize it to serve the
needs of its members.
Setting technology aside, I still believe the richest
and most rewarding form of communication is good
old fashioned face-to-face personal conversation. This
is the kind of communication you can experience at the
AEA International Convention & Trade Show and the
various AEA Regional Meetings that take place. The
convention is a great place to network and share your
thoughts, feelings, hopes and ideas with your fellow AEA
members. I hope you are planning to attend the 2015
AEA Convention in Dallas. It will be the place where
communication happens.
