L-3 Aviation Products

SHADIN AVIONICS successfully delivered
a DO-178 Level A custom AIS-360 data
converter less than 30 days after initial contact
by the customer, Sikorsky Aircraft Corp.
According to the company, a working
prototype of the ARINC 429 converter was
installed on a Sikorsky helicopter within 48
hours of requirements definition. Shadin
delivered black-label production units 22 days
later, ultimately reducing lead time to the
customer.
"The AIS platform combines technology
modules, certification pedigree, design
expertise and AS9100 manufacturing to solve
problems quickly and with minimal cost," said
DAN NELSON, chief executive officer for
Shadin Avionics.
The AIS-360 is part of Shadin's family
of FAA-certified AIS data converters,
designed to quickly respond to an everpresent demand for unique flight-worthy
data conversion applications on aircraft. The
family includes the AIS-380 analog, AIS-360
digital, AIS-450 synchro, AIS-460 military
1553 and the iPad AIM.

L-3 AVIATION PRODUCTS announced Viking Air Limited
selected the GH-3900 Electronic Standby Instrument System for
installation on new production Viking Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft.
"For decades, the de Havilland legacy Twin Otter aircraft have
been utilized for the hardest jobs in the toughest places," said
RALPH DEMARCO, vice president of sales and marketing for L-3
Aviation Products. "Equipped with the GH-3900 ESIS, the Viking
Series 400 Twin Otter will continue to live up to its predecessor's
reputation for versatility and dependability in extreme operating
environments."
Designed to Level A software and hardware standards, the
GH-3900 ESIS is capable of satisfying airworthiness requirements
for almost any transport category fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft,
according to L-3. The GH-3900 is a more precise and informationrich standby than traditional analog instruments, rendering all
the important cues on a sunlight-readable, 3-inch display. With
a customizable layout, L-3's GH-Series standby instruments can
be modified to fit a wide range of primary systems, giving pilots a
familiar reference for flying the aircraft.
Viking is a Canadian-based, first-tier original equipment
manufacturer holding type certificates for the seven legacy de
Havilland aircraft (DHC-1 through DHC-7) and the manufacturer of
the Series 400 Twin Otter.
In addition, L-3 Aviation Products announced SyberJet Aircraft
selected the GH-3900 ESIS for installation on its SJ30 line of
aircraft. SyberJet Aircraft is a U.S.-based manufacturer of the SJ30,
one of the world's fastest and longest-range light business jets.

ACSS (Aviation Communication & Surveillance Systems), an L-3
& Thales Company and a division of L-3 Aviation Products, received
technical standard order authorization from the FAA for the NXT600 Mode S Transponder. The NXT-600 meets the requirements for
the ADS-B Out mandates taking effect in some parts of the world
beginning this year.
Bombardier Aerospace and Thales Canada, Aerospace have
selected the new NXT-600 Mode S Transponder for integration into
Thales' avionics suite installed on the Bombardier Q400 NextGen
aircraft.
