and mode selection are controlled by
any IFD540 or IFD440 using the new
software.
Avidyne also added the MLX200
and MLX210 978 UAT transceivers
to its product line, allowing customers using its EX500, EX600 and
EX5000 multifunction displays to
comply with the ADS-B mandate
and display weather and traffic. Both
the MLX200 and MLX210 provide
compliant 978 UAT ADS-B In and
Out capability, information from
which can be displayed on either the
new navigators or the legacy MFDs.
The IFD540/440 can provide rulecompliant GPS position data to the
MLX200 while the MLX210 also has
an approved sensor built in.

B/E Aerospace Lighting and
Engineered Solutions
EMTEQ has a long history specializing in cabin lighting for aircraft
completion - engineering and installing
cabin equipment, and fixtures. In 2014,
it was acquired by B/E Aerospace, an
aircraft cabin interiors provider with
more than 10,000 employees and 35
major facilities worldwide. At April's
AEA Convention in Dallas, Peter
Tessmann, marketing manager, introduced the company's new name, B/E
Aerospace Lighting and Engineered
Solutions, plus two new products.
The 3X Nano is the first lighting fixture created by both EMTEQ
and B/E Aerospace. According to the
company, it offers the latest and most
advanced technology available, ensuring color consistency, efficiency and
performance. The product line offers
several features and benefits, including integrated ballast logic, which
B/E claimed is the industry's smallest
and lightest wash light. In addition to
step and variable dimming options,
the 3X Nano uses what the company
calls "hyper-efficient LEDs," featuring
low current draw and increased lumen

output. Constant current circuitry for
consistent light output helps improve
color consistency and blending. The
3X Nano is available in three color
options: a crisp, brilliant white;
multiwhite, allowing customers to control and mix the white light's temperature; and white plus an accent color,
allowing accented wash lighting.
Also introduced was the QUASAR
II 28VDC, an evolution of EMTEQ's
QUASAR II mood lighting products
designed for 28-volt installations.
The product's high resolution helps
deliver what B/E calls "the smoothest
dynamics on the market." Built-in con-

nectivity via RS-485 and EMTEQ's
own cabin logic network protocol
allow the QUASAR II 28VDC to
exhibit its enhanced functionality
even when limited cabin management
system capability is aboard the aircraft. The QUASAR II 28VDC comes
in two options: an extended profile
with a color integration chamber for
enhanced color blending, and a low
profile, offering what the company
said is the smallest full-RGB mood
lighting fixture available.
