hosted a delightful
lunch - "Aprons
On / Aprons Off".
Attendees told the
story of the aprons
they brought to wear.
The opening of "Life
before TV", Region
1 Conference,
included a display of
lovely boudoir dolls
and their story of a
runaway elopement
presented by
Norene Ott.
An exceptional
paper toy
workshop was
facilitated by
Jean Nordquist.

he Wenatchee Valley Doll Club of
Wenatchee, Washington sponsored UFDC's
Region 1 Conference September 12-14, 2013
at the Wenatchee Center. Yvonne Green served as
chair person of the well-organized and fun-filled
event, "Life before TV." A reception with a special
doll display was held on Wednesday evening at
the Wenatchee Museum and Cultural Center. A
luncheon featuring a centerpiece with a 1940s
theme officially opened the conference. Norene Ott
presented the program. Luncheons were presented
by clubs in Region 1, including Southern Oregon
Doll Collectors, Seattle Doll & Toy Collectors Club,
Wagon Wheeler Dollers and Olympic Peninsula
Doll Club. Conference attendees could choose from
nine excellent workshops such as doll shoe-making,
doll dress-making, Valentine box, or paper toy
construction. The sales room was brimming with
treasures for all tastes. Programs ranged from the
story of Kimport Dolls of Independence, Missouri
to doll conservation. A delightful and impressive
boudoir doll display was created by Mary Lu
Robinson and Barbara Shrode. The souvenir doll was
by Marlene Xenis.

conference!
