At Your Service!
he "At Your Service" ice cream social has become
a favorite event for many convention attendees. It
allows members to meet each other and enjoy a sweet
treat in an informal and relaxed atmosphere before the busy
convention schedule begins.
This year the Fundraising Committee will
be your official hosts at this open house
and will be teaming up with the
Collections Oversight Committee
to encourage attendees to make a
contribution in support of our newly
revamped museum.
Although UFDC's museum
will boast a new and
expanded look and will
include some incredible
new doll donations not seen
previously, the needs of the
museum will not end when convention
does. Our Wish List is not complete and many
of our prized dolls are in need of better shoes,
suitable clothes, appropriate wigs or have other
conservation and long term preservation needs.
To those who have made contributions to the
Museum through the "Adopt a Doll" program
and other donations, the Fundraising Committee and the
Collections Oversight Committee sincerely thanks you.
If you have not made a contribution or would like to
donate again please consider giving when
you attend the "At Your Service" Open
House. Amounts large and small are
all appreciated! Members of both
Committees will be on hand to
welcome you.
As an added incentive, our
marvelous and generous but
anonymous donor from last year has
offered once more to match funds up
to $10,000!
Of course you do not have to wait
to contribute till then and for those
of you who will not be able to attend
convention it is easy to give. Just visit
the UFDC website (www.ufdc.org) and
click on the donation page. Checks can
also be mailed to the office (10900 N. Pomona
Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri, 64153) or call the
office (816-891-7040) if you would like to make
a donation by credit card. Please specify your
donation is for the museum.
Book Offer
T
he impish face with big side glancing eyes beguiles
many doll collectors and antiques aficionados.
Author Anita Ladensack has researched an in-depth
history of the Googly dolls crafting a handsome book with
nearly 324 color photographs. Thanks to Anita's generosity
these books are being offered at a very reduced price of
$20.00 each to UFDC members. 100% of all sales will go
to support UFDC. These can be ordered from the UFDC
Shop on-line or through the office (ask for Kae).
