Sehested Sisters and brothers, listen to these words: Wake up each morning with your mind stayed on Jesus. You'll have to work at it, 'cause there's plenty of distractions. Above all, love from the center of who you are, that place that God made and called good at the very beginning. (inspired by Romans 12:9-18) Look after the needs of those on the edge. Go to great lengths to find friends among the friendless. Practice resurrection every day, especially when it's inconvenient. Don't wrestle pigs. It makes them mad, and it gets you muddy. Pull out every stop to live in harmony. Remember this: though you'll never finish your work, that doesn't mean you can abandon it. art by Susan Daily, IBVM Don't give in to pretentious piety or fake affection. Keep it real. Don't compete for status, but challenge each other to stretch compassion's sway. -This admonition is an excerpt from Ken Sehested's new book, In the Land of the Willing: Litanies, Prayers, Poems and Benedictions, published by Resource Publications, a division of Wipf & Stock in Eugene, OR. Ken was the founding director of the BPFNA. Watch for a review of the book in the next issue of Baptist Peacemaker. http://www.bpfna.org
