EMTEQ
EMTEQ introduced its eConnect wireless router, a linereplaceable unit designed to allow passengers to use their own personal electronic devices while airborne. EMTEQ also introduced its intelliOutlet and intelliUSB connectivity options. The company said its eConnect LRU router is the industry’s first Wireless N router, allowing you to connect and download faster, and provides interface options like RS485, CAN, ARINC429 and more. The company believes its new router is a cutting-edge solution to wirelessly connect compatible devices aboard the aircraft with one compact, cost-effective box weighing less than a briefcase. EMTEQ’s eConnect LRU uses a universal HTML5 interface, allowing control across all PEDs. FAA qualification was expected in May 2012. The company also discussed its cabin power options, represented by the intelliOutlet and intelliUSB products. The intelliOutlet line is designed to significantly simplify installation while offering enhanced safety features like built-in ground fault interruption and current limEMTEQ’s eConnect iting, eliminating the need wireless router for an external GFI box, relay, indicator light and circuit breaker. Combining all FAA/ EASA requirements into one unit, the intelliOutlet features adjustable current limiting and a wide input voltage range, allowing one part number to work for many installations. Meanwhile, EMTEQ’s intelliUSB solution provides a convenient power charging port for portable electronic devices with USB charging, including the latest iPads, and fully complies with Apple’s power specifications. The intelliUSB includes built-in circuitry for 28-volt DC power, eliminating the need for a cumbersome converter, all in a rugged and cost-effective package. Both the intelliOutlet and intelliUSB products have a frontmountable design, improving ease of installation. To learn more, visit www.emteq.com.

to the company, and uses 75-ohm cable for its connections instead of Cat5 cabling. Powered by user interfaces Flight Display Systems dubbed cabin control modules, Select CMS Platinum manages audio/ video sources, lights, shades and more from anywhere in the aircraft. The company said the system is versatile enough to control any cabin from a six-seat turboprop to a wide-body transport. Select CMS Platinum also requires fewer parts and less cabling thanks to its use of HD-SDI standards direct to LCD monitors instead of converting from HDMI to Cat5 at each device. One switching box is all that’s necessary for both standard and high-definition video. In fact, high-definition video is the Select CMS Platinum’s hallmark, according to the company. The system provides resolutions up to 1080p and also will upscale non-HD content. The company’s FlyHD end-to-end highdefinition product line includes source devices like Blu-ray, amplifiers and monitors ranging in size from 5 inches to 55 inches. “We are very excited about this substantial improvement to our popular Select CMS,” said David Gray, president of Flight Display Systems. “The Select CMS Platinum is a considerable advancement in cabin management.” To learn more, visit www.flightdisplay.com.

FreeFlight Systems
FreeFlight Systems, which specializes in the design, development and production of ADS-B-compliant transmitters, receivers and transponders, plus GPS navigation management systems and GPS/WAAS sensors, brought its unique product line to the AEA Convention, plus a few surprises. In particular, the company announced collaboration with Trig Avionics to offer a multi-capable – 978UAT, 1090ES and Mode S – answer for ADS-B equipage questions. The company also discussed working relationships with the University of North Dakota and Peregrine, of Englewood, Colo., to develop initial STCs for its ADS-B products and see them through the FAA’s supplemental type certificate process. In particular, the FreeFlight/UND effort is slated to result in an STC for the school’s Beechcraft King Air C90. That project is to include the company’s 1201 WAAS/GPS sensor, with a 1090ES transponder providing ADS-B Out position reporting, plus the RANGR FDL-978RX ADS-B In receiver system.
