Cooking native Japanese plants

During a presentation to NARGS Mason-Dixon Chapter in 2011, Malcolm McGregor talked about the fact that Inuit peoples traditionally used the leaves of various saxifrages as part of their diet. It reminded me of the use in Japan of saxifrage leaves, as well as the use of many other plants, many of which we know well in our gardens in North America and our local countryside.
