NEWS Scott Saunders New CEO at Moore Industries International Company veteran Scott Saunders has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Moore Industries-International, Inc., effective July 15. In his new position, he reports to Leonard W. Moore, who will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, which he founded in 1968. Saunders joined Moore Industries in 1999 as a Regional Sales Manager. In his most recent role as company COO, he was instrumental in the daily operational planning and management responsibilities of the company. He also had served as Vice President, Sales and Marketing. Solectria Acquisition Expands Yaskawa's Presence in Renewable Energy Yaskawa Electric Corp. (Yaskawa) and Solectria Renewables, LLC (Solectria) have reached a definitive agreement whereby Yaskawa will acquire Solectria through its U.S. subsidiary, Yaskawa America Inc. Solectria will continue to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary. Headquartered in Lawrence, MA, Solectria manufactures high-performance photovoltaic (PV) inverters for residential, commercial and utilityscale power systems and has grown into a leader in the North American solar arena. Founded in 2005, Solectria currently employs more than 160 people in the U.S. Founded in 1915, Yaskawa Electric Corp. is a $3.6 billion supplier of factory-automation solutions and has also established a leadership position in Japan's low-power PV inverter market. 14 | MAINTENANCE TECHNOLOGY According to the two companies, Yaskawa will bring scale, global sales and manufacturing facilities, as well as diversification to Solectria. In turn, Solectria will bring over 20 years of power-electronics experience (including 10 years dedicated to the PV industry) to Yaskawa, along with an in-depth knowledge of medium- and high-voltage PV products. PTC to Acquire Axeda and Speed 'Internet of Things' Solution Delivery PTC has announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Axeda Corp., a pioneer in the development of solutions to securely connect machines and sensors to the cloud, for approximately $170 million in cash. Because Axeda's technology innovation, extensive customer base and partnerships complement PTC's ThingWorx business, the acquisition is expected to accelerate PTC's ability to deliver bestin-class solutions across the entire Internet of Things (IofT) technology stack. Core to Axeda's IoT technology is the ability to enable companies to establish secure connectivity and remotely monitor and manage a wide range of machines, sensors and devices. Headquartered in Foxboro, MA, the company currently serves more than 150 customers, processing hundreds of millions of machine messages daily across multiple industry sectors. Its partnerships include arrangements with leading mobile network operators, edge device and design-in device makers, systems integrators and business systems/ analytics providers, as well as strategic OEM agreements with leading IoT technology and solution providers. Subject to customary conditions and certain regulatory approvals, the Axeda acquisition is expected to close in PTC's fiscal Q4 2014. AUGUST 2014
