Executives
In 2003, the three founders of Reprint Management Services came together once again, this time as the owners of Nxtbook Media, LLC. By leveraging the capabilities of the most successful magazine reprint company with the cutting-age possibilities of digital publishing, the partners feel that their customers can truly optimize print to the fullest capabilities.
The partners find themselves in an exciting position: simultaneously running one of the market leaders in the magazine reprint industry while leading Nxtbook Media to the forefront of digital publishing. The difference to our customers is obvious: Rather than being a technology company fueled by venture capital, Nxtbook Media, LLC is a private corporation, funded by its own profitability and grounded by the wisdom of three leaders with decades of experience in the printing industry.
Michael Biggerstaff, Partner, CEO, on running a technology company:
“Every day, I’m amazed by the limitless possibilities of the Nxtbook. As fast as we develop new capabilities for the product, our customers bring us new applications for its use. More and more, we’re learning that all forms of print can be leveraged for rich-media use on the web, and we’re committed to leading the change and innovation as the market grows and develops. We’re thrilled that Nxtbook Media is at the front of the Nxt wave of digital publishing.”
A veteran of the printing and publishing industry with nearly 30 years of experience in sales and marketing, Michael is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and Stevens Technical Institute.
Roxanne Edwards, Partner and Vice President of Production, on the digital reading experience:
“I’ve worked in print most of my adult life and spent years wondering how our publishers could improve on a product as simple and as perfect as the printed page. Now when I read a Nxtbook, I see the Nxt level of digital publishing. We’re giving the readers more information by optimizing copy with hyperlinks, video and audio, and we’re doing it in a way that delivers the content faster and cheaper than ever dreamed possible. In short, we’ve redefined what the ‘perfect’ reading experience means.”
Roxanne is a graduate of Fine Arts from Lycoming College and received her Masters of Science in Printing Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Jim Lewis, Partner and Vice President, Operations on the new economy:
“I’ve been in printing for thirty-five years – so long that I’m one of those guys who people say ‘bleeds ink’.” The problem with this metaphor is that too many of the publishers I work with are bleeding profits! The skyrocketing costs of paper and ink have made it more expensive than ever to get their message out. Fortunately, the costs of technology have fallen at an even more drastic pace. Nxtbook Media offers publishers the opportunity to expand the reach and effectiveness of print at a much lower cost.”
Jim manages the financial aspects and day-to-day operations of Nxtbook Media, LLC. A lifetime learner, his six grandchildren are diligently continuing the education process started by Grove City College.
Spencer Ewald, Founder & President:
“When I launched my first digital edition several years ago, I was thrilled about the opportunity but as a magazine veteran, I was also unsure how readers would embrace the new medium. What a great experience it's been! As technology improves and readers become more and more comfortable with online content, I'm so proud of the publishers which have led the charge into this new and exciting world. In just a few short years, we've gone from a new technology into being an integral part of a publication's marketing plan. That says as much about Nxtbook Media as it does about our customers.”
Spencer and his wife live in Connecticut. He enjoys coaching his three children in their athletic pursuits.
