Putting on airs When hD cameras were first introduced, makeup artists flew to their airbrush systems. The reason: Brush- and fingerstrokes can leave behind ever-sofaint—yet unforgivingly magnified by hD resolution—streaks on skin, whereas airbrush makeup hits skin as miniscule dots that seemingly blend with the technology’s pixels. Today, many artists rely on airbrushing when working with hD cameras—and several TV producers demand it. however, using the proper formulas and techniques is key; for example, pigment particle size remains important when using hD makeup with an airbrush system. “We reduced our pigment particle size to 1 or 2 microns, maximum, in comparison to 7 to 10 microns, because large chunks of pigment lying undissolved in the airbrush formula lead the artist to increase pressure, causing skin discomfort, clouds of overspray and detection by the hD camera,” says eric G. coffman, president of Graftobian makeup co. he notes that the preferred airbrush formulas are water-based rather than siliconebased, because a powdering on top of the latter can dull its tones. additionally, the matte look from (OPENING YOUR MAKEUP PALETTE) (OPENING YOUR MAKEUP PALETTE) etc...
