Using a unique transport system, riders glide through the attraction seated on pockets of air. Seats are launched into the attraction with impressive acceleration, and players themselves have control over the two flippers that send the seat back and forth into the pinball ‘table’ – just like the real thing.The unpredictable path each rider takes through the attraction creates a unique experience, although the ride’s speed can be varied to suit different age groups. The transport system used on Airballs works by forcing air through floor units, creating a cushion of air over which the seats glide. Worldwide patents are pending on parts of the system. Seats are configured for one, two or four riders and Airballs can be built to any size or shape. Depending on space available, more than one ‘ball’ or seat can be used. A prototype was shown at the recent IAPA Attractions Expo in Atlanta and the company now expects to sell three units as a result of the show Production models should be ready September 2007. ELECTRIC TRAIN by Dotto People moving specialist Dotto Trains has launched a new electric-powered version of its popular Muson River land train. Developed principally for city centre applications, where engine noise can sometimes be an issue, the train is pollution free. This is not the first time Dotto has made an electric train, but this latest version features a much lighter battery, which can be changed easily. However, operators can be assured that the train can run with as little as 5 per cent batter y power remaining. One battery takes around 10 minutes to charge and lasts from four to six hours. MOTO GO by Soli/IE Park Italian manufacturer IE Park is now marketing a motorcyle-themed bumper car in its Soli range . Operators have been trying out small fleets of the vehicle on their tracks alongside standard bumper cars, and this has been proving popular with guests. “In some cases, operators have started a separate queue line for those wantng to ride the morotocycle,” says IE Park’s Andrea Munari. The bike uses the same chassis/platform as existing IE Park junior bumper cars. Due to the risks possible with the seating position, adult/full size versions are not available. SPIDER WEB by Amazing Attractions/ Vertical Reality Spider Web is a new and challenging interactive climbing device for children. Four feet in diameter and available in custom heights from 12 to 33ft, it accommodates up to 35 children at any one time, who climb through a series of webbing. As the participant gets higher, the webbing gets thicker, making it more challenging. Finally, when they get to the top level, they can stand freely.
