NEW’N’NOTED F Features added to calf feeders örster-Technik’s new Vario Plus automatic calf feeders feature automatic calibration and more user-friendly animal information storage. Calves achieve optimum feed conversion and weight development through accurate dispensing of feed components. The new handheld terminal is easier to read with a 40 per cent larger display and a better contrast. It gives you faster access to important Vario Plus Calf Feeder animal data and specific functions with three new fast-function keys. Suction hose circulation cleaning is now available for the milk powder machine. The automatic, daily cleaning routine provides greater feed hygiene. The transparent hopper makes it easy to check milk powder levels at a specific time. The feeders were unveiled at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show at the Grober Young Animal Development Centre. L ely has taken its vision on dairy automation one step further by creating a product that allows even more freedom for the cow, more control for the farmer and more milk as a result. The main revolutionary feature of the Lely Astronaut A4 cow box is the walk-through design called the I-flow concept. Letting the cow walk straight in and out of the box eliminates any unnecessary obstacles, further reducing the threshold for the cow to enter the cow unit at her own pace. The spacious cowfriendly design and positioning of the cow unit allows continuous interaction with the rest of the herd, eliminating unnecessary stress on the cow. The Astronaut A4 uses a modular concept. A central unit features a central vacuum and cleaning system for up to two cow units. A configuration with two cow units can span a distance up to 30 metres, which ensures more freedom and space for positioning the units in a barn. The modular approach makes the A4 a valid option for family farms producing 300,000 litres up to large operations that produce well over 10 million litres of milk annually. The A4 comes in two models, the Manager and the Operator versions. Both have additional options to configure them to meet a specific farm’s needs. A new milk-friendly pump moves milk to the tank without rotating impellers which can damage the milk. To reduce downtime, key wear parts have been changed to easily-replaced cartridge systems. Lely’s dedicated management program, the T4C, can generate a quick overview of herd performance, the robotic milking system and cows needing attention. The T4C management program is now available on the robot itself and comes with an optional dynamic feeding module. This system automatically changes feed allocations per cow based on optimum cost benefit ratio to maximize profits. For more information, visit www.lely.com or your area Lely Centre dealer.
