Green Roofs - Living Architecture Monitor - Fall 2008 - (Page 9) BALTIMORE HILTON GOES GREEN Following on the heels of grhc’s annual conference, awards and trade show held in Baltimore this past Spring, Baltimore has even more green roofs to boast about with the August 2008 opening of the Baltimore Hilton Convention Center. The 757-room hotel has two extensive green roofs covering 32,000-square-feet. Mahan Rykiel Associates Inc., a landscape architectural firm worked closely with The Furbish Company, which installed the Roofscape System, and rtkl on the green roof design. Though the green roofs are inaccessible, lucky hotel guests and workers in nearby office towers can look down onto the two green roofs which contain a plant palette of six different species – mainly Sedums – and more than 60,000 one-inch plugs.
