uP FRONT A GREAT DAY ON ThE GREEN RAIN DOESN’T DAMPEN SPIRITS AT 9Th OSPE GOLF CLASSIC Despite a few rain drops, over 120 golfers hit the links for the 9th Annual OSPE Golf Classic on Monday, June 4 at Pipers heath Golf Club. After 18 holes, participants enjoyed a fabulous bbq lunch, prizes and a silent auction that raised significant funds for the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education. Established in 1959, the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education (the Foundation) is a not-forprofit charitable organization that actively promotes the pursuit of accredited engineering education and provides temporary financial support to professional engineers experiencing hardship. To accomplish its goals, the Foundation undertakes several initiatives aimed at inspiring excellence and leadership, including engineering entrance scholarships, undergraduate engineering scholarships, the Engineers Without Borders Scholarship for engineering students who volunteer abroad and the Gold Medal, awarded to the student who graduates with the highest academic standing at each of the 15 accredited Ontario engineering schools. The Foundation also supports the Professional Engineers Ontario Engineer-in-Residence (EIR) Program, through which professional engineers augment the science curriculum in elementary and secondary schools across Ontario by volunteering in the classroom. Over the years, Ontario’s engineers have donated over $2 million, enabling the Foundation to help more than 3,000 engineering students and professional engineers. The Foundation is extremely grateful for the support of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) and Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
