Employers can't find engineers with the skills they need.
Engineers aren't securing adequate employment. OSPE investigates
this troubling disconnect in an effort to develop solutions.
In recent years, headlines nationwide have continued to rage about
ongoing skills shortages within the engineering sector. These shortfalls
reportedly cost the economy billions and threaten Ontario's global
competitiveness. OSPE's own research, however, tells a conflicting tale.
Employers are indeed struggling to find people with the specialized skills
they need. At the same time, highly educated individuals are grappling
with unemployment or underemployment.
