Rocky Mountaineer’s success owes much to the unspoiled scenery, fresh air and abundant wildlife of Canada’s West. As a result, we take it as our personal responsibility to preserve and steward the natural environment of the regions where we operate. Here are some of the ways we are keeping it green: Plant a tree and save the Earth starting smart - Reducing fuel Consumption, Exhaust Emissions and Noise Pollution Randy Powell (far right) President & CEO, releasing salmon juveniles into a stream in Abbotsford, British Columbia with Rocky Mountaineer colleagues. …well at least doing a part to save the beauty we see from our trains for generations to come. For the yearly anniversary of each of our employees we plant a tree along our routes. We have planted 1,700 trees since 2007. save the salmon ZTR Smart Start technology has been installed in all Rocky Mountaineers’ locomotives. This Canadian system automatically manages the shutdown and restart of the locomotive engines, significantly reducing fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and noise pollution. Rocky Mountaineer Green team We are involved with protecting and enhancing the threatened salmon stocks with the Pacific Salmon Foundation. Founded in 1987, the Pacific Salmon Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding sustainable and naturally diverse Pacific salmon stocks. Rocky Mountaineer trains follow some of the most important salmon habitats in North America. In 2007, we entered into an eightyear financial partnership with the Pacific Salmon Foundation; the equivalent of two salmon lifecycles. To engage employees in sustainability, we started by establishing a Green Team. By minimizing environmental impact and promoting awareness of natural resources, we offer our guests an experience that’s truly connected to the awe-inspiring land in which we travel. 87
