INCLEMENT WEATHER?
The Summit Helicopter Tour may be cancelled due
to poor weather and a price reduction will apply.
Guests may also choose to not participate in this
activity at the time of booking.
When to travel
The west coast of Canada offers
a temperate climate, with warm
summers and mild winters. The Canadian
Rockies and the eastern provinces feature
a much more dramatic climate, with cold
winters perfect for snow-based activities.
July, August, and September generally

7. AM I ABLE TO MOVE WITHIN THE
ROCKY MOUNTAINEER?
One of the advantages of train travel is the spacious
room afforded to all guests. Guests are able to
move through their own coaches. GoldLeaf Service,
SilverLeaf Service, and RedLeaf Service guests can
enjoy fresh air outside their coaches. Access to the
GoldLeaf Dome coach and adjacent vestibule is
limited to guests reserving this service. Guests on
the Whistler Sea to Sky Climb route have access to
an open-air Heritage Observation Car.

train slows to a very slow speed at particularly
scenic locations.
Smoke-free policy
To ensure the preservation of
our fragile environment, and for
the comfort of all guests, smoking is not
permitted onboard the Rocky Mountaineer
or in the rail stations. This includes the
vestibules between the coaches and the

W
GRATUITIES FOR ROCKY MOUNTAINEER HOSTS?
Gratuities are not included in prices (unless
indicated) for Rocky Mountaineer Hosts, driverguides, transfers, tour escorts, hotel porterage, or
Red Cap Porters. While it is neither our place nor
our wish to tell you how much to tip, gratuities in
Canada are often given in recognition of service
excellence. If you are travelling on an organized tour,
you may want to check with your tour director to
confirm the amount of gratuity for your Hosts that
may have been included in your tour package.

12. WHAT WILDLIFE WILL I SEE?
There are wonderful opportunities for viewing
wildlife during your stay in Canada's West, including
bear, elk, deer, moose, bald eagles, osprey, salmon,
mountain goats, and bighorn sheep. However,
"wildlife is wild" and, as such, sightings are never
guaranteed. If you do come into contact with
animals, please act responsibly, maintain a safe
distance and never feed any wild animal.
RedLeaf Service guests will need
to pack a small overnight bag for their
stay in Kamloops or Quesnel. Main
luggage will be checked through to their
final Rocky Mountaineer destination
and will not be available in Kamloops
or Quesnel. GoldLeaf Service and
SilverLeaf Service guests' luggage will be
delivered to their Kamloops or Quesnel
accommodation. All guests should be
sure to carry any medications with them
onboard the train.
