Downtown Toronto is a great place for sharing a meal on a patio, browsing or going for a walk through our neighbourhoods. Today I am extending my personal invitation to bring your family to the official opening of Ryerson University Athletics and Recreation Centre at Maple Leaf Gardens. It is going to be a tremendous party, and I would love to see you there. Stay tuned − the date and time will be posted on the Ryerson Alumni Relations website. This party will be just the beginning, as the Ryerson Gallery and Research Centre is nearing completion, and the Student Learning Centre will start to take shape on Yonge Street. These are far more than buildings. They are magnets for outstanding students and faculty from around the world, and cultural destinations offering an outstanding experience. Ryerson embraces its responsibility to contribute actively to making our city work, in all its wonderful diversity, and its global reputation for tolerance and understanding. As a university, and as individuals, we can never take any of this for granted. In some ways, it is an extraordinary miracle that every nationality and belief lives together in our community in peace.
