2017-2019 Senate

Alumni Candidates for the Ryerson Senate

Vote for up to two candidates of your choice. Voting is available June 19 to June 30, 2017

Joshua Makuch

A veteran of the war in Afghanistan, Josh is a graduate of the Canadian Army Command and Staff College and is currently a management consultant at Capco. He remains involved with the TRSM community, as a member of the planning committee for the Ted Rogers MBA Anniversary, and recruiting students to Capco. Josh is also a Director of the Queen’s York Rangers Regimental Council, a not-for-profit organization that supports the soldiers of the Queen’s York Rangers, one of Toronto’s oldest militia regiments. He is committed to serving Ryerson University as a member of the Senate, and to help continue to shape it into one of Canada’s pre-eminent higher education institutions.

Ryan Rodrigues

Ryan Rodrigues is currently an elected member of the Ryerson University Senate (2015-2017) and the liaison appointed by the Senate to the Ryerson University Alumni Association (RUAA) board of directors (2015-2017). He has worked in higher education and educational advancement at five Universities: Guelph, Ryerson, Western, U of T and UPENN. Ryan has volunteered in University governance roles at Ryerson in the past, as an elected member of the University Senate (2000-2004) and Board of Governors (2002-2003).

Ryan earned his BA and MBA from Western University. He has also completed governance programs from the Institute of Corporate Directors, and the Stanford-Rotman Corporate Governance Program.

Charles Tam

Mr. Tam is Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs, at Edwards Lifesciences (Canada) Inc., leading corporate regulatory strategies within the Canadian healthcare marketplace. A medical device industry insider, his progressive professional and managerial experience includes BD Canada Inc., Johnson & Johnson, Inc., and Abbott Laboratories, Ltd. He serves on the Regulatory Affairs Committee at Canadian Medical Device Industry Association (MEDEC), holds Canadian Association of Regulatory Affairs Professionals (CAPRA) membership, a subject matter expert (consultant) for Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) and is Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board (CECAB) certified in Policy & Legislation. He is an alumnus of the University of Toronto (Hons. BSc, 2006) and graduate of Ryerson University (MBA, 2016).
