Rob Yallop

Architecture ’91 He is a historic preservation expert, recently promoted to direct the Ann Arbor office of Lord Aeck Sargent, a leading architecture, design and planning firm focusing on responsive design, technical expertise and sustainable practices. He has overseen the restoration, rehabilitation and documentation of significant historic buildings and properties across the United States.

2000s

Heather MacEachern

She was recognized last November as one of London’s Top 20 under 40 through Business London, and was the first photographer to receive this award. Her company HRM Photography was also named London’s Best Photography Studio for the fifth year in a row by the London Free Press.

 

Kazik Radwanski

Image Arts ’08 He has written, directed and co-produced a film titled How Heavy This Hammer, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and was then screened in Germany, Mexico, Denmark and most recently in New York City this past February. The film is now available on iTunes.

2010s

Mona Abdel-Fattah

Midwifery ’13
She is believed to be the only Arabic-speaking midwife in Hamilton. Since 2015, she has been involved in the care of 42 Arabic women at the clinic where she practices, the Hamilton Midwives.

Jeff Aylen

Retail Management ’12
He is the marketing co-ordinator for the International Ski Federation in Oberhofen, Switzerland. He writes: “I have been working in sports since my second year of university, first with the Toronto Raptors and Maple Leafs, then with Canada Basketball, and was co-founder of the Ryerson Sports and Business Association student group in my fourth year.”

 

Dylan Bell

Journalism ’16
Dylan has seen his modelling career take flight, from a spread for GQ Japan to a campaign for retailer H&M to the runways of New York City, not to mention kicking off the new year with a high-profile campaign for Holt Renfrew.

You could say Ryerson blue and gold runs through the veins of the Buchanan family. Claudia Buchanan, Nursing ’12, is pictured here at Convocation in the company of her family, many of whom also have a connection to Ryerson. Her husband Grant took courses at the university (among other places) to become a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers. Son Spencer is a graduate of accounting and finance, son Fraser has studied web design at The Chang School, while daughter Sawyer is completing a degree in retail management. Grant is currently a distinguished visiting scholar at Ted Rogers School of Management. Grant’s father, the Honourable Judd Buchanan, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws from what was then Ryerson Polytechnical University in 1997 for his work in the Canadian tourism industry.
