Toronto Tourism Magazine 2009 - (Page 56) York Region’s perfect drive This part of Southern Ontario is known as golf heaven, its hillsides and plains dotted with dozens of worldclass golf facilities. Golf enthusiasts can challenge their swinging or putting abilities at one of several courses designed by renowned architects, such as Doug Carrick or Robbie Robinson, or simply enjoy the bucolic settings where some of the top professionals from the PGA and LPGA have played. There’s a reason why Wooden Sticks golf course, designed by architect Ron Garl, will remind golfers of some of the best courses. In fact, 12 of its 18 holes were inspired by a different golf course played during PGA tournaments. Opposite page, clockwise from top: Families come to enjoy the harvest’s offerings at Pine Farms Orchard & Winery; Several varieties of apples just ripe for picking are used to make Pine Farms’ delicious cider; Even the kids love fresh corn; Walk the trails at The Kortright Conservation Area. 56 | www.SeeTorontoNow.com http://www.seetorontonow.com
