Focused on improving and maintaining Downtown, the DBA and BID help keep it a desirable place to shop, dine, play and live. DBA is a member driven organization that provides leadership in the promotion, advocacy, and support of downtown as the vital center of our community. The organization provides a long list of services in the Downtown area, including monitoring the Downtown gift certificate program, distributing the Downtown parking accessories, and promoting the area through creations such as the Downtown Minute. Destination Each year the DBA helps organizations in the implementation and coordination of all Downtown Events, including events such as Strawberry Festival, Alive After 5, HarvestFest and various others. With a desire to improve the business climate, competitiveness, and quality of life in Downtown Billings, property owners decided that having a Business Improvement District would greatly improve the Downtown neighborhood. The BID is a vehicle for local economic growth and community revitalization. The uniformed BID ambassadors, or “Purple People” as they are known, have the task of taking care of the common areas in an approximately 18-block area of Downtown Billings, providing a unified source to combat litter and remove weeds, graffiti, and snow. Providing a welcoming presence in the Downtown, their mission is to further enhance and make Billings a vibrant destination. Today, with a focus on urban development and culture, including a wide selection of retail shops, dining establishments, services, lofts, apartments, historic homes, and entertainment, Downtown has become a dwelling for enthusiasts of all kinds!
