Love the Luxuries - Billings, Montana: The Official 2007 Vacation Planner - (Page 50) BILLINGS, MONTANA . . . THE NEXT BEST PLACE THE LIFE Look south to Yellowstone Park and the Tetons, and right out your back door to the longest free running river in America. Stroll Billings’ historic district— arts, culture and cuisine. Hiking, skiing and fishing are crowd free and scenic rich. Play golf, and baseball and hockey. Ride the fence at a rodeo. Think Cowboy and Cosmopolitan. WE ARE SMART But it’s not all fun, Montana ranked ninth in the “Smartest State Award.” There is a university and a private college, a workforce training center and state funded training programs. THE ECONOMY Billings is the regional hub for a 500 mile radius with 450,000 residents. Montana welcomes 10 million annual tourists. Our health care system serves a four state area with two major hospitals and 30 clinics. With the largest coal reserves in the nation, we are actively pursuing energy development. Data Centers are safer from earthquakes, floods, with no hurricanes or typhoons. Terrorism is unlikely. Mating season for the moose, however, can get a little rough. TRANSPORTATION Billings is linked to Seattle and Minneapolis, Chicago and New York, Denver and Calgary by Interstate 90 and I-94 motor freight, and rail access. The airport, served by six major airlines, is five minutes from the business district. INCENTIVES — STRAIGHT TALK If living in SE Montana wasn’t incentive enough, we offer business loans, and reasonable land, utility and housing costs. But our best value is straight talk, helpful facilitation. 8 Horse Racing, MetraPark 9 Horse Racing, MetraPark 9 Fall Classic Motocross, Billings Motorcycle Club 13 – 30 High School Football Exhibit, Western Heritage Center 15 Farmers Market, Downtown Billings 15 Horse Racing, MetraPark 16 Horse Racing, MetraPark 22 Farmers Market, Downtown Billings 29 Saturday Live, Pioneer Park 29 Farmers Market, Downtown Billings Calendar of Events October 1 - 10/14 Caravan Collaboration: Alone Together, Yellowstone Art Museum 1 – 31 High School Football Exhibit, Western Heritage Center 4 – 7 Wrangler Team Roping, MetraPark 4 After 5 Mixers, Downtown Billings Association 5 Artwalk, Downtown Billings 6 Farmers Market, Downtown Billings 12 – 1/6/08 International Art from the YAM Collections Vault, Yellowstone Art Museum 13 Harvest Fest, Downtown Billings 16 – 20 NILE Pro Rodeo and Livestock Show, MetraPark 19 – 21 Women Writers of the West BookFest 26 – 28 Girl of the Golden West by Rimrock Opera, Alberta Bair Theater 26 – 28 Murder at the Moss Mansion 26 – 31 The Human Touch, Yellowstone Art Museum 28 Yellowstone Art Museum’s Beaux Arts Ball, Billings Depot 31 Downtown Billings Trick or Treating November 1 – 17 High School Football Exhibit, Western Heritage Center 1 - 30 International Art from the YAM Collections Vault, Yellowstone Art Museum 1 – 30 The Human Touch, Yellowstone Art Museum 1 After 5 Mixers, Downtown Billings Association 2 – 4 Marketplace Magic, MetraPark 12 – 30 Holiday Tours of Christmas Trees, Moss Mansion 17 – 18 Holiday Food Festival, MetraPark 22 – 1/4/08 Bricks and Boards Exhibit, Western Heritage Center 23 Holiday Parade, Downtown Billings 406.256.6871 www.bigskyedc.org 50 www.ItsInBillings.com 2007-2008 Billings Vacation Guide http://www.bigskyedc.org http://www.itsinbillings.com
