A magnificent park of colorful sights, the gardens endure from season to season in perpetual beauty. They began with the vision of renowned landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmsted, the designer of GARDENS the outside world to a pace slowed by time and nature. A century ago, a carriage ride to the house took nearly an hour; now the pleasant three-mile drive lasts about 10 minutes. The final moments are accomplished on foot, along winding paths through hemlocks and hardwoods that open to reveal your first glimpse of Biltmore House. 10
