Amish Country.org 2009 Visitors Guide - (Page 16) continued A new dawn is coming for the arts in Elkhart as the elegant Lerner Performing Arts Center (formerly Elco Theatre) is restored to its original 1920s opulence while at the same time being outfitted with state-of-the-art, 21st century technical and acoustical improvements. The renovated theatre is poised to become the cornerstone of a thriving arts and entertainment district. Until the curtain rises at The Lerner in 2010, Premier Arts, Inc. — The Lerner’s resident theatre group—is staging Mainstage productions (theatrical classics) and Storybook (children’s) performances at the National New York Central Railroad Museum in downtown Elkhart. Other performances will take place at the American Countryside Farmers Market in Elkhart (Pump Boys & Dinettes) and Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury (Quilters).
