Florida's Space Coast 2008-2009 Official Vacation Planner - (Page 9) Tom Wild er of Minnes ota eginning at the North end of our county you will find one of the most natural beaches in the state. There are no hi-rise hotels or condominiums here, just pristine beaches to enjoy surfing, swimming, sunbathing or surf fishing. You even get a great view of the space shuttle launch pads! You’ll find restrooms, but little else as far as facilities. At Port Canaveral all the way south to Sebastian Inlet State Park are over 35 miles of public beaches. Just about any eastward turn you make off State Road A1A will give you access to the beach, but our many beach parks offer restrooms, showers and picnic pavilions. Jetty Park at the east end of Port Canaveral has year-round lifeguards, beach wheelchairs, a snack bar, bait and tackle shop and a 1,000- foot fishing pier. Cocoa Beach has been called the most famous beach in the world. It offers endless ways to enjoy fun in the sun. At the east end of U.S. Highway 192 off A1A in the city of Indialantic is a 500- foot wooden boardwalk along the beach. Nance Park has restrooms and showers at the north end of the boardwalk and several restaurants. Surf shops and retail outlets are within walking distance. Sebastian Inlet is a favorite of surfers and hosts several surf contests throughout the year. It is also very popular for fishing with two long piers and even has a fishing museum on site.
