Under construction, the museum is located in the historic F. W. Woolworth building where four A&T State University students ignited the 1960 sit-in movement. In addition to the Piedmont Triad Farmer’s Market on Sandy Ridge Road in Colfax, just off I-40, and the Greensboro Farmer’s Curb Market, near downtown on Yanceyville Street, visitors can tour local farms, wineries, corn mazes, petting zoos and pickyour-own operations. Goat Lady Dairy in Climax (336-824-2163 or www.GoatLadyDairy.com) offers scheduled tours that include a cheese tasting and a one-hour guided tour of the farm. Call in advance for reservations. Homeland Creamery in Julian (www.HomelandCreamery.com or 336-685-6455) offers a one and a half hour dairy tour that starts with a hayride and ends with an ice cream sampling in the Creamery Store. A fun and challenging corn maze is an option for fall visitors. Call in advance for reservations. If wine is your thing, two local wineries are making a name for themselves.
