North Eastern Minnesota's 2008 Iron Range Getaway Guide - (Page 7) SUMMER TRAILS ATV/OHV Trails In any season, the Iron Range’s expansive ATV trail system offers more opportunities, diverse terrain and great riding experiences than any other area in the state of Minnesota. Don’t forget about the state’s first Off-Highway Vehicle and ATV park in Gilbert! The 1,200-acre park is managed by the Minnesota DNR and features more than 30 miles of trails, diverse riding terrain and unbelievable scenic overlooks. Biking & Hiking on the Mesabi TrailSM (and more)! The Iron Range is home to Minnesota’s premier paved biking and hiking trail, the Mesabi TrailSM. Winter activities may include cross country skiing, snowshoeing and winter hiking. When fully complete, the trail will traverse 132 miles and connect more than 25 communities between Grand Rapids and Ely. The trail also offers access to lodging, recreation, dining and so much more. There are also more than 175 miles of hiking trails scattered across the region, providing hikers with a truly memorable and diverse experience.
