Some of the fairways are doglegs, but most holes play straight away, and the medium sized greens are well bunkered, slightly sloped, and elevated. Water hazards come into play on five holes. The nine hole course features 6,267 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. The course rating is 71 and it has a a slope rating of 70. Designed by Davis Love III, Shell Landing Golf Course fea tures generous tree lined fairways winding through the pine savannah, leading up to large undulating greens, and water comes into play on eight holes. These natural features com bine with five sets of tees to afford a challenging course for all handicaps. The 18 hole course features 7 ,024 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.2 and a slope rating of 128. WHISPERING PINES GOLF COURSE 18412 Hwy. 613, Hurley. 588-6111. Whispering Pines Golf Course is a great course for beginners and seniors. The course is flat and easy to walk. The front 9 is open and the back 9 is wooded with several water hazards. The 18 hole course features 6,392 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. WINDANCE COUNTRY CLUB 19385 Champion Circle, Gulfport. Island View Casino Resort. 832-5374. Designed by Mark McCumber and affiliated with the Island View Casino Resort, the “Windance” course, at the Windance Country Club facility features rolling terrain and very tight fairways. The greens are average sized and level, and the course is moderately bunkered with many water haz ards. The 18 hole course features 6,660 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.1 and a slope rating of 129. PASS CHRISTIAN ISLES GOLF CLUB 150 Country Club Drive, Pass Christian. 452-4851. www.pci-golf.com. The Pass Christian Isles Golf Club facility is one of the oldest courses on the Gulf Coast, and designed by Tom Bendelow in 1914 (same designer of Medinah No. 3 and Olympia Fields). The course known for having very small greens (as were most courses designed in the early 1900s), tree lined fair ways and strategically positioned water hazards, underwent two major renovations with painstaking efforts made to retain its turn of the century charm. The Isles offer a challenge to golfers of all levels. The 18 hole course features 6,433 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rat ing is 71.3 and a slope rating of 124. ST. St. Andrews Golf Course, designed by Earl Stone & Jay Thompson, features no parallel fairways, a spectacular view of the gulf and barrier islands from the 13th fairway, Bermuda grass, and winds through the St. Andrews Subdivision. The course offers an abundance of wildlife to admire while play ing on the signature “lighthouse” hole. Herons, egrets, and even alligators, make playing this course an awesome experi ence. The 18 hole course features 6,533 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 69.7 and a slope rating of 119. Designed by Jerry Pate and affiliated with the Palace Casino, The Preserve Golf Club encompasses 245 pristine acres, sur rounded by an additional 1800 acres of dedicated nature pre serve. Integrated into the design of the course are native sur roundings of pitcher plant bogs, cypress swamps, long leaf pine savannah, live oak groves, and native grass prairies. The Preserve offers five sets of tees, unprecedented course con dition, and superior guest service. The Preserve Golf Club is located approximately 2 miles north of Interstate 10 – Exit 57 North. The 18 hole course features 6,774 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course rating is 72.8 and a slope rating of 136. SUNKIST COUNTRY CLUB 2381 Sunkist Country Club Road, Biloxi. 388-3961. www.sunkistcc.com. The Sunkist Golf Course at the Sunkist Country Club facility, designed in 1953 by Frank Stiedle, makes it one of the origi nal golf destinations on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The back tees are inviting with water coming into play on seven holes and “Champions Bermuda” greens. Sunkist is a “fun” course for all skill levels of golfers, yet still a challenge to the more accomplished players. The 18 hole course features 6,400 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 69.4 and a slope rating of 116.
