The Outer Banks 2009 Official Travel Guide - (Page 72) OUTER BANKS CAMPING PRIVATE CAMPGROUNDS With the milky way flung far across the night sky, sleeping under the black velvet canvas of an Outer Banks starry night is a “roughing it” experience like no other. Camping on the wild and dynamic barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina provides a refreshing perspective on the important things in life. The dull roar of crashing waves a few yards away from your tent, camper or recreational vehicle will wash your cares away. Choose camping for a new way to enjoy and reconnect with friends and family. For private campgrounds, see pages 86, 125, and 136. NATIONAL PARK SERVICE CAMPGROUNDS Cape Hatteras National Seashore Recreational Area has four campgrounds: Oregon Inlet, Cape Point, Frisco and Ocracoke.
