Racine County 2008 Visitors Guide - (Page 42) CORRIDORS OF OPPORTUNITY YTINUTROPPO FO SRODIRROC The direct route to your life’s next incredible opportunity is better known as Interstate 94. It’s much more contemporary than the fictitious Yellow Brick Road, but there is definitely a treasure connected to the highway. Welcome to Racine County and a world of prized opportunities! The interstate is commonly referred to as I-94 or the ChicagoMilwaukee corridor since it connects Racine to the two metropolises. Racine County is geographically well situated for residents, entrepreneurs, customers, visitors and members of today’s workforce. The interstate provides a highly visible and easily accessible route for everyone connected to the adjacent municipalities. An arena of educational institutions, economic development partners, technologically innovative and service-oriented businesses and diverse governing bodies helps turn dreams and possibilities into achievements and realities. The county offers more than 4,400 businesses and in excess of 450 manufacturing companies. Racine County provides an entrepreneurial culture and recognizes the importance of technology and innovation in the growth of existing business and the attraction of new ventures. Racine County’s growth is seen in ambitious developments and revitalizations. Long-standing successful businesses coexist with tomorrow’s newcomers. Rural, urban and high-profile settings along the I-94 corridor are available for lease, purchase or development in the surrounding communities. The village of Mount Pleasant is young in its incorporation, and it certainly is a community in transition. It has a progressive 20year development plan in place. The initial component of an 8,000-acre, mixed-use development includes a business park, service-center park and town center. Retail and residential opportunities exist. The core of the village rests between highways 11 and 20, and its developments strengthen the commercial and industrial corridor. As it experiences substantial growth, Mount Pleasant is committed to maintaining a high level of service to its commercial, residential and industrial partners. Significant interest is being shown in the southwest corner of the village of Caledonia. The Twelve Oaks mixed-use development will be located at highways K and V, just east of I-94, and it will incorporate the New Urbanism philosophy. The Trillium Commercial Center will surround the Village Green and will feature a grocer, restaurants and other retail establishments. Family-friendly common areas will be included for residents’ convenience and enjoyment. 42 High-end condominiums with stunning water views will be erected near Lake Michigan at Five Mile Road and Erie Street. Commercial space is available in the privately owned Caledonia Business Park. Sturtevant is the transportation hub of the county. The community’s new Amtrak station and the village’s ideal location near the interstate contribute to its notable growth. The village maintains its small-town flair even while it amply satisfies residents’ needs for everything from shopping to a skate park and from a new banquet hall to leading global companies. Since the recent addition of the Marcus Cinema at The Renaissance, a state-of-the-art, 13-screen theatre, Sturtevant also is identified as an entertainment center. Capitalizing on the area’s natural amenities, the GrandView Business Park overlooks the I-94 corridor just south of Highway 20 in Yorkville. www.racinecvb.org • Racine County 2008 Visitors Guide • 1-800-C-RACINE http://www.racinecvb.org
