Visit Raleigh 2018 | Official Guide to Raleigh, Cary and Wake County - 43
The Town of Zebulon has six public parks
covering 78 acres of land. Park patrons enjoy
a wide variety of recreation, from splashing in
the water along the banks at Little River Park
to playing the championship disc golf course
at Zebulon Community Park. Past national
champions have participated in the annual
PDGA-sanctioned Dogwood Crosstown Classic
disc golf tournament, and the local turn-out is
always strong for the annual Cha-Ching
and Zing Classic.
Zebulon Farm Fresh Market sets up shop on
Sat. mornings from April to Oct. on the front
lawn of the beautiful and historic Wakelon
School building (now the Zebulon Town Hall).
Come visit our farmers as they bring an array of
organic vegetables, honey and grass-fed meats
to market, or see what local artisans have to
offer in candles, soaps, kombucha, stained-glass
art and housewares. If all this food is making you
hungry, there's a good chance you'll find a food
truck nearby ready to take your order.
At Whitley Furniture Galleries, you'll walk
through the doors of this fifth-generation,
family-owned furniture store to discover the
Research Triangle Region's largest showroom,
covering an entire city block downtown. These
cool, historic buildings and the friendly, familylike atmosphere create the perfect furniture
shopping experience. Be sure to check out the
19th-century staircase when you visit.
Teacher of the Year
Zebulon Gifted and
Zebulon Community Park
"I love the Zebulon
community and the role our children play. We are
teaching the importance of being friendly and
helping each other. It's a character that you can
see in action each day in our town.
"Our kids are friendly to each other and try to
help each other. My own children go to ZES, and
I want it to be the best school in eastern Wake
County and even Wake County Public Schools."
Farm Fresh Market
"I have a passion for
older buildings and
repurposing them, and
the town allowed for
me to purchase several buildings. I love to be
part of a place that cares about its past while it
looks to the future. Those visions come
together in Zebulon.
"I moved to Zebulon in 2008 and opened Muter
Construction downtown in 2012. Once moving
the business, I experienced a great deal of
support from the Town staff as well as the other
businesses in the downtown."
"My family opened
this store way back in
1909, and we're still
running it today, more than a century later. Over
the years we have seen a lot of changes. We're
excited about the energy of Zebulon and enjoy
talking to the residents and visitors who stop by.
"Shopping at Whitley Galleries is different than
driving from store to store on 'furniture row.'
It's more like a fun afternoon adventure."
