Southern Breeze 2007 Summer Issue - (Page 80) food LAST BITE Apple Blackberry Crisp Serves: 6 to 8 | Prep time: 30 minutes | Bake time: 1 hour 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup plain yellow cornmeal 11/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 cup chilled unsalted butter, chopped 2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries 8 cups thinly sliced peeled Granny Smith apples (about 6 large) 3/4 cup sugar 2 tablespoons lemon juice 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour 21/2 teaspoons grated lemon rind APPLES + BLACKBERRIES = YUM! Combine blackberries and remaining ingredients in a large bowl, stirring gently to mix. Pour into a buttered 13- x -9- x 2-inch baking dish. Top evenly with crumb mixture. Bake at 375° for one hour.
