This enables them to make a real and tangible difference back in the workplace. Building on strengths Traditional formats of training and development focus on developing participants’ areas of weakness. We, however, put equal emphasis on how individuals can build on their strengths in the work environment. In our experience, building critical selfawareness is vital. It’s as important for individuals to know what they do well and where their strengths lie, as it is to understand the areas that need improvement. Motivation is key We take on board employees’ existing skills, those that have already proved useful, and assess how they can be used to build any new skills they learn. We do this before returning to support their progress in understanding and practising their new skills and in assimilating new knowledge. The extreme care we pay to this process is what makes our approach stand out from the conventional way of training. Our goal is motivation-led, not just skills based; it’s designed to inspire. And that’s what leads to better performance, higher productivity and, ultimately, greater profitability for the organisation. 14
