Fact file Since the launch of learndirect scotland for business in July 2002, over 12,000 Scottish businesses have made enquiries. The service is aimed at small to medium sized businesses who may not have specific training resources. In fact, 90% of the enquiries have come from companies with fewer than 10 staff. The courses they’re looking for cover a broad range of subjects. The top five are: • Computing/IT • People management • Business management • Health and safety • Finance/accounting We have had some ‘out of the ordinary’ requests including sheep production, Gaelic for receptionists and timber engineering. And we found solutions for them all! Around 200 branded learning centres actively promote their services to local businesses and each year almost 3000 learners from small businesses use a learndirect scotland branded learning centre.
