Search for the message boards below and add your input. t Where to Put a TAD Introduction: This patient had UL3 and UL4 completely transposed, with UL5 blocked mostly palatal (so that 3 is really far distal). Teeth in general were quite crowded and protrusive, so she was a four-tooth extraction case. We presented various options to the parents and they preferred to have the UL4 extracted and the canine moved into the correct spot. So now we are to the point where we will need a TAD for anchorage to move UL3 mesially, a full tooth width at least. Where should I put the TAD? In the space close to the UL2 and use it for direct anchorage? Or distally, maybe palatal, and use it for indirect anchorage for the UL6, and then use an OCS to mesialize the canine? n Diane Any Tips for Placing a TAD Lingual Between 6-7? We put the TAD distal to the lateral are pulling forward directly off the TAD. Or OCS with a cinched SS wire? n NOV 12 2012 Think indirect anchorage whenever possible. Direct anchorage should be your second choice always. So you could place a screw on the mesial buccal of the upper left first molar. You’ll need a double tube on the molar. You can then run a wire from the aux tube to the screw and bond it into position. Bend the aux wire on the distal and OCS from 6 to 3. Next choice would be palatal to the UL2 bonded to the lingual of the UL2 and then a NiTi closing spring from the UL2 to the UL3. Finally, palatal between the UR5 UR6 bonded to the UR6. Then, OCS between the UL3 UL6 and a wire cinched tight at the distal of both 6s. As far as screws, size matters!
