It is 8mm in length. I can post the records later, but the patient, who is a 13-year-old female, has no overjet, normally inclined incisors and Class I posterior occlusion, so she definitely needed solid anterior anchorage. Anterior Bite 14 1. When you put it in the midpalatal suture, you do risk instability as someone stated above. 2. When you put it in the midpalatal suture closer to the incisors than the third rugae, you also run the risk of entering the incisal canal. 3. If you put it to the side of the suture closer than the third rugae, you run the risk of perforating the incisor roots. 4. So the third rugae is the area to place something like this if you are going to use the anterior palate, which I do all the time. 5. I would have done two screws straddling the midline at the level of the third rugae. My experience is that sometimes one screw becomes loose, but almost never does one of two become loose.
