W
elcome to the newest member of the Orthotown advisory board,
Dr. Donna Galante, who joined the board in late December 2014.
Galante owns four orthodontic practices in Northern California and
over the years she has bought practices and started practices from scratch.
Galante is passionate about orthodontics-both from a clinical and
business perspective-and has particular interest in leadership, team
building, practice development, and marketing.
Galante is married to a fellow orthodontist and has two children,
ages 16 and 18. She enjoys writing and reading, especially on the
topics of business, leadership, personal development, travel and
food. She's a marathon runner and also likes Crossfit. It's hard to
imagine that she has any free time, but when Galante does have
leisure time, she likes to fill it with cooking and having friends over
to enjoy dinner and try new wines.
She's a native of Pennsylvania and graduated magna cum laude
in 1980 from Albright College, in Reading, Pennsylvania, with a
BS in psychobiology.
She then pursued her dental degree at the University of Pennsylvania Dental School and received her DMD in 1984 from the
same institution. She was awarded at graduation with the Henry
Goldman Award for Clinical Excellence in all areas of dentistry.
In 1986, Galante received her orthodontic specialty certification at the University of Pennsylvania and opened her
first private practice in King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
From 1986 through 1993, she was a clinical
instructor at the University of Pennsylvania's
Department of Orthodontics where she worked
directly with graduate students. She was twice
voted "instructor of the year" by the orthodontics
residents. In 1992, Galante became a diplomat of
the American Board of Orthodontics.
Galante said she looks forward to being part
of the "amazing group of professionals associated with Orthotown," and that she welcomes the
opportunity to represent the growing number of
women in the field of orthodontics. ■
