Durst Introduces New Printers and an Ink Set MACtac Introduces New Film D urst announces new platforms offering unprecedented image quality, productivity, versatility, and workflow benefits—all with an exceptionally low impact on the environment. The Rho SP 60 is an innovative, singlepass inkjet printer compatible with a range of different materials including cork, MDF, ceramic tiles, cardboard for packaging, plaster ceiling panels, and plastics. The SP 60 was further developed to handle wooden and cork panels for floors and other media used in home furnishing and packaging. The new Rho 320R, introduced at drupa, includes innovative Quadro Array printhead technology and a new print carriage concept based on a magnetic linear drive system. It prints up to 10.5 feet on a wide range of coated and uncoated media at up to 1,400 sf/h. The Rhopac 160 is an entry-level UV digital press for corrugated displays. It prints on corrugated boards as well as a large variety of rigid and semi-flexible POP materials. This, coupled with a roll-to-roll printing option, makes it a versatile POP printer. Durst now offers a new thermoformable UV ink set that is totally VOC free. Rho TH inks are highly effective on ABS, polysterene, and thermoformable PVC. Durst Rho TH Ink is compatible with all Rho series printers. Circle 177 M ACtac announces new Permacolor Matte RAYZor Overlaminating Film. Originally developed for demanding military applications, Permacolor Matte RAYZor (LF3630) is a 1.5-mil matte cast laminate designed for application to complex curves and corrugations. Driven by consumer trends currently transitioning to the vehicle wrap market, the matte paint- like finish offered with this product allows wide format digital printers and installers to capitalize on this movement by differentiating and expanding other products and finishing possibilities. Circle 179 Avery Donates MPI 2010 to Problem Solving Competition A very Dennison Graphics & Reflective Products Division donated more than 7,000 square feet of MPI 2010 vinyl to the 2008 Destination Imagination Global Finals, the world’s largest creative problem solving program for kids. More than 1,000 teams of elementary and middle school children from around the globe gathered in Knoxville, TN to participate in problem solving challenges promoting teamwork, creative thinking, and personal fitness. Graphix Solutions in Old Bridge, NJ, printed graphics on more than 7,000 square feet of Avery’s MPI 2010 and wrapped 125 individual cubes used in the Power Cube Challenge. The challenge was part of the closing ceremony and teams assembled the 15- by 15- by 15foot puzzle cube for the Global Final’s National Dairy Council Nutrition and Fitness Challenge.
