MACtac Worldwide Awards North American Winners T he ballots are in and winners displayed innovative use of MACtac pressure sensitive materials. Every two years MACtac hosts a worldwide contest to challenge designers to push the envelope in creating high impact visual communications. Here we take a peek at the North American winners. North American judging took place in February 2008. The panel, consisting of several editors and publishers in the industry, as well independent experts, judged entries in four categories: vehicle graphics—cars, buses, trucks, trains, planes; exterior signs—billboards, buildings, events; interior signs— showrooms, trade shows, shops, museums; and technical achievement—3D shapes, large scale projects, and other demanding applications. Entries were judged based on creativity, visual impact, and application skill. Job complexity, size, organization, and efficiency were additional criteria. The winning entries in each of the four North American categories received a $3,000 cash prize. First, second, and third place winners were also awarded cash prizes. Next month look for coverage on even more award winning applications. We share the worldwide winners in the European and International—Africa, Central and South America, Asia, Middle Eastern, and Oceania—divisions.
