Through the initial generosity of Robert and Janine Obee, the fund now celebrates two years of proven success and recognizes the support of those who believe in the importance of preservation and conservation. The fund was established to receive gifts of support for the sole purpose of addressing restoration, conservation and preservation initiatives related to the interior of the Manor House. Because historic restoration projects often seem too broad in scope and cost for an individual donor to undertake, the fund is a vehicle through which even the smallest gift can make a significant difference to restoration efforts. The Manor House Curatorial Restoration Fund has exceeded $15,000 in contributions. More www.stanhywet.org importantly, however, is how these funds have been used to assist Stan Hywet in meeting its preservation and conservation goals. Examples of critical and important projects in the Manor House include the restoration of the female domestic living quarters, restoration of the changing rooms, velvet roping and brass fittings for increased museum security, cleaning of historic rugs including those in Virginia’s Bedroom, replacement of glass curtains in the Solarium and Music Room, purchase of necessary carpet and upholstery cleaning equipment, storage upgrades for textiles and accessories, and more. The future success of the Manor House Curatorial Restoration Fund depends on the generosity of others. We welcome contributions in a variety of forms: cash, checks, appreciated stocks, credit card transactions, in-kind donations, or planned gifts.
