Stan Hywet Hall and Garden Magazine - Spring/Summer 2008 - (Page 18) Around the Grounds Say “I do” S tan Hywet Hall & Gardens’ picturesque mansion and 70 acres of beautiful grounds, including historic gardens, offer the perfect backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. The gardens were designed to blend with the estate’s architectural style, and the seasonal color changes from April through October naturally enhance the stunning surroundings. Each setting, including the English, Japanese and Rose gardens, serves as a perfect backdrop for pictures. Outdoor ceremonies can be performed in three locations, including the West Terrace, which offers a distant view of rolling, wooded hills; the West Terrace Overlook that has breathtaking scenery whether you are standing indoors or out; and the Tea Houses at the Birch Allée, where a natural corridor formed by the more than 100 silver birch trees create a mystical, romantic effect. The estate’s indoor settings are equally elegant. Banquet rooms, tented areas and the Corbin Conservatory offer accommodations for up to 200 guests, and well-trained staff members are prepared to meet every couple’s needs, from step-by-step preparation leading up to the ceremony, to the rehearsal dinner and reception. Weddings are part of Stan Hywet’s tradition, beginning with the Seiberling family, and it is the perfect setting for an event that feels both intimate and grand.
